Physical education skills form the foundation for later involvement in sport. Boondall State School’s physical education program encompasses the teaching of skills in the domain of swimming, gymnastics, ball skills and athletics.
Prep students are involved in a balancing/spatial awareness program called "Gross Motor Skills" which helps these young students develop the skills necessary for involvement in a range of physical activities. This involves participation in an extra PE lesson each week throughout the year.
Students are introduced to games with introductory skills taught, and with the aid of Brisbane sporting associations including Brisbane Hockey Association, Baseball Queensland, AFL Queensland and Tennis Queensland.
Students in Years 5 and 6 are eligible to participate in intraschool sport. Currently the school offers intraschool competitions in a variety of sports.
Those students who exhibit a higher level of sporting skill have the opportunity to represent our Bramble Bay District (a group of 24 schools of which Boondall is a part), Metropolitan North Region (basically North Brisbane) and even Queensland. Students can represent at any sport endorsed by Education Queensland even if we do not offer that specific sport at Boondall.
