Music plays a very important part in our lives at Boondall State School. At Boondall State School we have exceptional music standards. Our goal is to promote a love of music in our student body and to provide opportunities for excellence in music for our all of our students. We aim to extend their music education beyond the norm in both Instrumental music (IM) and classroom music (CM). We have a fully integrated music program which combines the skill and experience of both specialist classroom and instrumental teachers at Boondall State School.

Classroom music

At Boondall State School, all students from Prep to Year 6 are involved in classroom music. Students learn music through a sequential music program which includes singing and playing instruments. In classroom music every student in Years 3 and 4 will learn to play the recorder and Year 6 students learn to play the guitar.

Choir

Students have the opportunity to join either the Junior Choir (Years 1 to 3) or Senior Choir (Years 4 to 6). Rehearsals are currently in break times and after school. Our choirs are entered into competitions such as QYMA and perform at as many local community events as possible to gain performance experience.

Instrumental music

Year 4, 5 and 6 students have the opportunity to join our Instrumental Music program. As part of the instrumental program, students develop specific skills on a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument so that they can join the School Band. Many local community events are supported by our music groups and students learn a variety of performance mediums, including compering and stage management.
